Colorful Boats

ISO 200, f/3.5, 1/1000sec

When I walked past these boats on the pier in Manteo NC, I knew right away they would make a great photo. Just like I love lighthouses, I love the water, boats, and anything nautical. Of course the beautiful colors of these boats caught my eye, but their surroundings attracted me as well.

I did add a bit of 'vibrance' to this photo in Lightroom, but other than that, it's straight out of the camera. I was going to bring this photo into Topaz Adjust, but my trial key has expired. I really need to buy that program.

Gone Fishing

ISO 320, f/5.0, 1/250sec

I think it would be awesome to run a chartered fishing boat. You'd get to meet new people almost every day, and you'd get to spend a lot of time relaxing on the water. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are bad days (hurricanes, leaks, rude people, etc) but at the end of the day, I'm sure it beats sitting in an office the size of a matchbox where the only light you get is fluorescent.

What I like most about this photo is the fact I know nothing about what they're doing. Are they going fishing? Did they just get back from fishing? Did they catch anything? Are they on vacation? One thing is for sure, the guy on the back of the boat looks relaxed and like he's taking it all in.
