ISO 100, f/10.0, 1/250 sec, Canon EOS 7D, EF-S10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USMThere is a bird lookout near the Bodie Island Lighthouse on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and that's where this photo was taken. I had hoped for glass-smooth water to get a perfect reflection of the clouds, but closer to shore the water was beginning to ripple a bit.
The photo directly out of the camera looked great, but I took it into CS5 to add a bit of tone mapping via the HDR tool.

ISO 200, f/4.5, 1/40 sec, Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XSi, EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USMFor work I was in Washington DC at the beginning of June. I had wanted to get some HDR photos of the Lincoln Memorial, but I wanted to travel light so I only brought a single lens and no tripod. When I got to the memorial, I realized it was a good thing I hadn't brought a tripod. The place was a complete zoo, and I don't think tripods were allowed anyways. I tried to get a good photo of Lincoln, but with so many people around and flashes going off constantly, it was hard to get 'the shot'.
So, instead, I took one of my decent shops and brought it into CS5 and did some monochrome HDR work on it. I hope you like the result. I personally think it almost looks like a charcoal painting.

Stephen Bader Here is another shot from the Smoky Mountains. I did a small amount of HDR from a single exposure using Topaz Adjust, and then faded it a bit in Photoshop.
I know I've been bad about posting lately. I'll try to be better about it.

Stephen Bader I haven't posted an HDR in a while, so I decided to try one out today. I used Photomatix, and it has been so long since I used it that I forgot how to get the output I typically like. I really need to buy a copy of Topaz Adjust.
I hope you enjoy!

Stephen Bader This is an old photo I took back in 2008. It is also one of the very first HDR photos I created using Photomatix. I don't remember much about this trip, but I do remember we rushed to try and get there in time to climb the lighthouse, only to find out that it wasn't open on the day we went.
At first I couldn't decide if I liked the gutter on the right side of the picture, but I feel it almost frames the shot a bit, so I kept it.

Stephen Bader Still haven't gotten a chance to get out and shoot this week, so here is an old one you'll actually find in the Photo Gallery. This was taken when I first got my Canon XSi, and I recently took it into Topaz Adjust to give it an HDR look.
Happy Easter!

Stephen Bader This is the 1904 Dare County Courthouse in Manteo, NC. I took this photo while we were waiting for our walking ghost tour to start. Ironically, this was the first stop on our tour! This building is allegedly haunted, but i don't remember the details behind the haunting.
I was surprised to see that this photo was shot with a 1/2sec shutter speed. I know I didn't have a tripod on me, so I imagine I shot this with the camera resting on a stationary object nearby. I can't imagine I shot this handheld with such a longer shutter speed.
My memory about the details of this photo are escaping me because the most memorable event that took place the night this photo was taken was when we almost got arrested because our ghost tour guide took us on private property they did not have permission to take us on!
I added the HDR affect in Topaz Adjust. I'd imagine you're sick of hearing about Topaz Adjust by now. Trust me, they don't sponsor me or anything like that. In fact, I doubt they even know I exist.
